Running On Empty

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” Romans 8:26 – 27

Have you ever had one of those days or one of those weeks where you are just done in by the end of it? Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually drained and you just want to fly away somewhere quiet and secluded?

I have, I did. I feel done. Busyness, stress, age, attacks of the enemy, etc. have all brought me to the end of my reserves.

I knew I was not alone in it and so I silently whispered a simple prayer, a cry for help and relief. I didn’t really know what to pray about specifically or even what I really needed; I felt burdened by life. My spirit just knew I needed strength, energy and wisdom for one more day or it wouldn’t be pretty!

As I sipped my coffee and read my devotional, there were the bible verses written above. It felt like water to a parched throat!

Even when I am without words, when I have nothing left in me, the Holy Spirit intercedes on my behalf. He groans with feelings and thoughts in a way we aren’t capapble of; a supernatural, perfect way.

What sweet balm for my weakened soul. I don’t have to say the right words or even make coherent sentences because I have a translator who can speak the right language for me. When I accepted Jesus Christ as the risen Son of God, the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, took up residence in my soul. I have a roomate who knows the perfect will of God!

How do you spell relief? I spell it….. H O L Y S P I R I T.

I am so grateful the Lord left me a Counselor!

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17

So dear ones, when you are depleted and feel like you can’t even pray right, remember you don’t have to. You can just ask the Spirit within your soul to groan with you and for you; to intercede with perfect utterings on your behalf. He does it all the time, even when we are unaware of it.

Oh my friends we are SO not alone in this journey of life!!

Be well!

Patricia
